Message From the New ATA President
As a fourth-generation troller and a lifelong resident of Southeast Alaska, I am a passionate advocate for the survival of our historic and important fishery. My mission is to protect the interests of every troll permit holder and crew who depends on our fishery. Our fleet is continuously attacked by ruthless agendas and from all directions.
One of my primary goals as president is to strengthen our relationships with Southeast local communities, other associations and organizations, and most importantly, with my fellow trollers and their families. By fostering open communication and collaboration we can undoubtedly and collectively address all upcoming challenges we face to our vita trade and rightful way of living.
I firmly believe that preserving the livelihoods of all trollers and the sustainability of the salmon resources starts with unity. The recent WFC lawsuit fight that threatened each and every one of us proves that standing together, “pole-tip to pole-tip”, can achieve success. Together, united, we can navigate the complexities in this ever-changing landscape, and ensure that the Alaska Trollers Association remains a respected and influential voice for our industry.
I am honored to lead this one-hundred year old esteemed association and look forward to working alongside our dedicated members, partners, and stakeholders to shape a bright future for all Southeast Alaska Trollers. Please join us by renewing your membership so we can keep your voice heard. Together we will keep our cherished way of life for generations to come.
Gratefully yours,
Cody Cowan
