ATA Mourns the Passing of Two Irreplaceable Friends

Tim O’Connor, ATA’s Vice President and former Mayor of Craig and Fire Chief, passed away on early on
September 30th from a very rare form of turbo-cancer. Tim was a positive force on our board and longtime power troller. He was a very capable individual who doggedly attended fishery and Southeast
Conference meetings. He was as real as they get, with a great sense of humor. His absence is felt daily
and our condolences go out to his family in Craig and south.

The remains of Tad Fujioka, Chairman of the SPC and former ATA board member, were found Tuesday,
October 29 th when he was attacked by a bear on Baranof Island while deer hunting. Tad was the number one “think tank” for our fishery who never refused providing data or analysis to ATA. There is no one else of his caliber. Period. But more than that, he was always fair-minded, kind and honest. He was
really balanced individual: you knew he was a great dad and husband. His passing leaves a huge void.
